Christening and Baptism Invitations
Baptism Invitations are elementary Christening announcements that are sent to family and friends. Baptism is a liturgy based in the rite of the Blessing of Baptismal Water from the Easter Vigil to offer the opportunity for those who were baptized as babies to reflect the responsibility and dignity that come with the rite, so invitations may include the symbols of baptism, such as water, candles, or oil vessels, as well as religious images.
Traditionally, Baptism Invitations are white cards or have a white garment or lace; however they can be beige or any other pastel color. According to the different religions or how religious the parents of the baby are, the invitation may include or not a few words explaining the symbols on the invitation or what they represent, for example, the water cleanses and refreshes; the candle is the light or enlightenment expected and means also the warmth; the white garment or lace represents purity and dignity, etc.
The wording varies from the type of invitations, because while some are exclusive to announce the religious events, many of them tend to be more informal focusing on the party time that a baptism brings. Christening ceremonies like this are important events in a child's life so make sure your invitations reflects all your love, joy and of course, save a copy for the future when the baby grows and may appreciate your cherished dedication celebrating this event.
In order to select the appropriated baptism invitations, decide first if your baby will have a religious baptism or if you will opt for a non-secular naming ceremony, and then choose the location where the event will be held, either in your home, the church or in nature because nowadays more and more baptism ceremonies are held in gardens or near rivers and lakes. Once you determine these details, there are a large variety of Baptism Invitations you may choose from.
