Recognizing a Cheater

Recognizing a cheater is easier than you may realize. In fact, cheaters often leave a number of clues regarding their behavior –it’s being willing to recognize these signs and act upon them that can be the most difficult. Here is a list of the signs to watch for.

Lack of Interest in Sex

If you and your partner already have a sexual relationship and he or she suddenly loses interest, that is a sure sign that your partner is getting satisfaction somewhere else. Sure, there are some medical conditions that can cause a person to lose his or her sex drive. Stress can also be a factor, such as a big assignment at work. But, unless your partner is undergoing menopause or another health issue that can put the breaks on the libido, stop making excuses for the lack of sex and find out if your partner is cheating.

Being Defensive

For the most part, a person that cheats feels at least some amount of guilt about it. This deep down guild can manifest itself as defensiveness. Or, your partner may actually start to place blame on you and start accusing you of being unfaithful. If your partner suddenly seems to be a bit more aggressive than before, it is a sign that he or she could be cheating.

Filled with Excuses

If your partner suddenly has a number of excuses for not being around, he or she could be spending that time cheating. Sudden business trips, needing to work late, or meeting with a client can all be excuses used by your partner to find time for the person he or she is cheating with. Be suspicious if your partner suddenly becomes very busy at work and can’t find time for you.

Hang Up Calls

Sometimes, the person your partner is cheating with will try to call him or her at home. This is particularly common when the person he or she is cheating with begins to form a romantic attachment to your partner. Of course, if you happen to answer the phone, that person doesn’t know what to say. This often results in a hang up. So, if you are suddenly getting a bunch of hang up phone calls, you might want to invest in caller id. If the phone number is blocked, you have even more reason to be suspicious.

Sudden Gifts

Since cheating partners often feel a bit of guilt, they may also try to compensate for this guilt by buying you gifts for no reason. Or, gifts can by a ploy to try to keep you from figuring out what is really going on. Suddenly receiving gifts when your partner hasn’t been one for gift giving or getting gifts that are nicer than the norm is another sign of a cheating heart.

Obviously, there can be some perfectly reasonable explanations for some of these potential signs of cheating. But, the more of them you see, the more likely your partner is not being faithful. If you recognize any of these signs, talk with your partner and try to get to the bottom of it before you get hurt even further.
